Fair value: how to make lopsided trades even

The cash top-up field, why it exists, and how to use it without haggling.

Not every trade lands perfectly balanced. Your espresso machine might be worth a little more than their record collection. That's fine. That's what the top-up is for.

When you propose or counter, add a cash top-up that closes the gap. Keep it small and honest — this isn't a payment, it's a rounding gesture. The point is still the swap.

A quick rule of thumb: if the top-up passes 40% of either item's estimated value, it isn't really a trade anymore. Rework the offer or find a better match.
